The present work was created by Robert Indiana to advertise his exhibition at the Colby College Art Museum in Waterville, Maine.

The composition heavily relies on geometrical iconography of hard-edge painting with primary colours deriving from Pop-Art.

This motif is reminiscent of his iconic series, "LOVE,” where Indiana impeccably unites commercial graphic design with fine art to spread a direct message with a single word yet one that contains political and social undertones.

In this example, the word "ART" is depicted in Indiana's unique blend of text, color, and form. All in all, Indiana emphasizes the power of ordinary words through his work.
