Where do ArtSnap artworks come from?

ArtSnap is a marketplace for trusted buyers and sellers. Artworks on ArtSnap are sold by carefully vetted collectors, dealers and galleries. ArtSnap curates collections, manages payments between buyers and sellers and provides support for everyone trading on our platform.

Can I return my purchase?

Once you receive your artwork, you have 14 days to return it if you are not happy with your purchase. Provided the artwork is still in the same condition, we will reimburse you fully, although it is your responsibility to cover return postage. How long will it take to receive my purchase?

This is somewhat dependent on where the seller is located. As soon as we receive your payment in full, we instruct the seller to send the work to you. This will be via courier or specialist shipper, depending on the artwork you’ve purchased. For deliveries to Europe and the US, most orders are delivered within two weeks and we will let you know if it is likely to take longer, for example if your seller is away. For all other destinations, you should expect delivery in 4-6 weeks.

How do I know if the work is authentic?

All of our sellers are carefully vetted and every artwork offered on ArtSnap has been reviewed thoroughly by art specialists before it is listed and prior to despatch. We aim to share the known provenance and condition information to help buyers come to a better informed decision about a work.

Can I see an artwork before I buy?

We are able to offer rare artworks at great prices because we directly connect buyers and sellers all over the world and we don't have the expense of running a physical gallery or store. For this reason, it can be difficult to arrange for you to view a work. When I sell a work, how long does it take to get paid?

You will receive the proceeds of your sale two weeks after the work has been delivered to the buyer. This is because the buyer has the right to return the work up to 14 days after receipt. We have an exceptionally low returns rate and you will not incur any additional postage fees if a buyer chooses to return a work in this timeframe. We also only allow returns of works in the same condition they were received in. If you are one of our Gold Sellers, you will be paid within two working days of the buyer receiving the work. 

How does shipping work?

When you sell an artwork, the ArtSnap support team will contact you to give you packaging guidance and help you to arrange shipping. For many shipping routes, we will arrange a courier on your behalf. If we agree that you will arrange shipping yourself, once you send us the shipping invoice and tracking number we will reimburse your shipping costs.

How do things get priced?

When you submit a work for sale, you provide us with your desired net (take-home) price. We check this against recent market intelligence and previous sales records of comparable pieces, as well as what information is known on the condition and provenance of the artwork. We take a service commission of 20-30% depending on the selling price of the work and if we feel that we are unable to offer a good deal to ArtSnap buyers we will contact you to discuss pricing. On occasion, we may recommend pricing changes based on first-hand or more detailed examination of the work, recent market conditions or currency fluctuations.

Are there fees or costs to sell with ArtSnap?

When you sell with us, we work to your pre-agreed net price. We take a transparent commission on top so you know what you'll take home when you sell. Very occasionally, the condition of your work may have to be inspected in person or additional photography might be necessary, but any additional costs will be discussed with sellers ahead of time.

How much money will I make?

We aim to be the most competitive trusted marketplace for art. Our sellers typically receive between 70% and 80% of the sale price and our pricing is transparent: we do not charge hidden commissions and premiums like traditional auction houses. For more on our fees, view our Fee Details.

I have a large collection of artworks or objects to sell. Can you help?

If you are looking to sell a large collection or you are overseeing the sale of an Estate, our dedicated Estates team can assist you. Please send a summary of the works you would like to sell along with images to sell@art-snap.com and they will work with you from there.

I just submitted works for review. When can I expect a reply from ArtSnap?

We aim to respond to all submissions within 48 hours. If it’s a particularly busy time, it may take longer for our specialist team to assess items and we will notify you accordingly.

What if I don't have a photo of the artwork I want to sell?

It is essential that we see good quality images of any artwork you’d like to sell. If you are having difficulty uploading images, our team can assist you so please contact us at support@art-snap.com.

How quickly can artworks from my collection be sold?

This depends on many factors, with pricing being particularly important. Our specialists can advise whether your work should be included in a flash sale or our permanent store, and whether you should accept offers from prospective buyers. If you’re keen to sell quickly, we can also help you set a reduced price. We offer new works every week so it is possible for us to list works for sale in a matter of days.

If I submit my artwork or collectible for evaluation, am I required to sell it withArt Snap?

No. If you do list a work with us and it becomes unavailable, we do ask that you notify us immediately.
